Create a job application form
To get started, you can simply duplicate an existing application form, then customize it to fit your specific job posting. For this, you can also check out our template gallery to find some inspiring application forms.
First, add a Welcome Screen to introduce your company and the position. Then you can add questions asking for people’s name, phone number, email address, or other contact information to make sure you can get back to them later.
Long Text questions are great for giving people some space and creative freedom to write about why they applied for a position. You can also collect these questions under a Question Group to better organize your typeform. Once you know the applicant’s name, use Recall information to call them by that name and add a little human touch to your form.
Make sure to add a File Upload question (available on a Basic or above plan) so people can upload their resumes and other relevant files, and make it required if you don’t want them to skip this step:
You can use Logic to show your applicants different follow-up questions based on their responses. For example, if you’re hiring both remote and on-site employees, you can branch the form at a relevant question to make sure you don’t ask people working from home about the favorite part of their commute.
Customize your application form to make it on brand with the following features:
- Create your own theme (on a Plus account or above)
- Use a Premium theme (on a Plus account or above)
- Remove Typeform branding (on a Plus account or above)
- Add your own brand logo (on a Plus account or above)
- Use a brand kit (on select Enterprise and Growth Custom plans)

This might come as no surprise, but Typeform is already using typeforms to collect job applications. Check out this article to see how our team does it.
Collect application files in one place with your favorite tools
You can use application forms with File Upload questions to directly ask applicants to upload files they want to share. This can be a photo, their resume, portfolio, motivation letter, or any other relevant document.
Add Typeform’s own File Upload question (available on a Basic or above plan) to collect these files, or integrate the File Upload question with your favorite file storage tool and automatically send files there.
Check out this article to see how to send files to your Dropbox, or this one to see how to collect files in your Box account.
Send follow-up messages based on people’s answers
You can use Typeform’s follow-up messages feature to send confirmation emails to people when they submit your application form, or send emails to your inbox about new submissions.
You can also use an automation tool like Zapier to set up an integration between Typeform and an email service like Gmail. For example, if you want application forms to land at different departments, you can segment them and send them to the right recruiter at your company based on what the applicants answered.
With this integration, you can either send emails to different addresses based on people’s answers, or trigger emails with different content based on their answers. You can find a step-by-step guide on how to set this up here.
Use Zapier to connect your typeform to Greenhouse
Zapier is a tool that offers thousands of integrations to automate workflows without any developer skills. You can quickly set up an integration between Typeform and a recruitment tool like Greenhouse using Zapier to trigger actions in Greenhouse when a form is submitted.
To get started, you can find the Zap between Greenhouse and Typeform here.
Let candidates schedule meetings with you
Appointment scheduling tools like Calendly are great for letting people book meetings with you at a time that suits you both without any hassle. By adding the Calendly question to your typeform, you can easily let applicants book meetings in your calendar without having to leave your typeform.
Are you trying to recruit people from different parts of the world? Worry not, you can also add Logic to your typeform to let your applicants schedule screening interviews with recruiters in different time zones based on their answer to a question about their location.
Tada! Your application form is all set up. If you want to learn more about ways to show your shiny new application form to the world, you can also check out our articles about Typeform’s sharing and embedding options.
