How to create an agenda builder like Zapier and Inbound

Zapier and Inbound both used outcome quizzes to create engaging and user friendly agenda builders. The basic idea is to create a quiz, with questions designed to find out what type of person your attendee is, and then suggest an ideal agenda for them.

1. To make this agenda builder, first you need to think of different personas that will attend your event. Then, create an ideal agenda for each one of those personas–these persona agendas will be your quiz outcomes.

Zapier created personas like "Data Driven Decision Maker", while Inbound went for more job-position-personas like "Community Builder". These are only examples– use whatever makes sense for your event!

Once you've decided on your persona-led agendas, it's time to create your form.

2. Open up your Typeform account and start a new form. We'll start from scratch, and add a series of Multiple Choice questions.

Inbound asked five questions about attendees’ work personalities, like this one:

Each of your answers should resonate with something in your event, so that you can link these up to your agendas later! So, for example, if someone selects B here, there should be something in their agenda relating to Sales. We'll link these answers up later.

Examples of other questions you could ask here include:

- "What's your main reason for attending the event?"

- "What's your level of product expertise?"

- "Which of these subjects resonates with you most?"

3. With your questions ready, the next step is to create the endings, which will link to each of the agenda personas that you created above. Click the + button next to Endings to get started.

For each of your agenda personas, you need to create one Ending. Below is an example. There's a title (the name of your persona), with a short description below, so your attendees can quickly understand their results. Inbound edited the Button text to say "Get Your Targeted Agenda", and then added a custom Button link. For each of these Endings, the custom link is different, leading to a landing page for the corresponding persona-led agenda.

Inbound created landing pages for each Agenda persona, while Zapier just added the suggested agenda as a list to each persona-led Ending. In their case, the button could be turned off.

4. Now we have the main ingredients, it's time to get them cooking with Quiz and scoring logic. Click Logic, choose Quiz and scoring, and then Outcome quiz.

You'll see each of your Endings listed, with a drop down below. To make this quiz work, simply select every multiple choice answer from your questions that relates to each of your persona agendas:

Here you can see that the "Customer Experience Champion" persona is connected to ther "Delighting customers and building loyalty" answer.

Choose as many answers as are relevant for each Ending. Click Save, and publish your form.

5. Now you have your questions and endings prepared, and have connected them using an Outcome quiz. Test your quiz to make sure that you get the endings you expect! Do this to make sure that your Outcome quiz logic is set up correctly. It's worth letting a colleague test your form so you can get feedback. Edit the logic in case anything is out of place.

6. Share with your attendees!
