Typeform has introduced new features that use AI to quickly enhance your forms and analyze your data. Below you’ll find some frequently asked questions about AI with Typeform.

What providers are used in Typeform?
Typeform uses a variety of large language models (LLMs) including Anthropic and OpenAI. We constantly assess LLM providers and their models to offer the best possible experience. In cases where direct customer data is sent, we use a private copy of LLM models to ensure that no customer information is shared with an LLM provider.
Clarify with AI asks two follow-up questions based on a respondent’s answer to an open-ended question. It uses Anthropic to generate clarification questions to uncover insights that might be lost otherwise with just a single open-ended question.
Smart Insights uses Anthropic to detect topics found in open-ended responses (Qualitative Analysis). Respondent data is sent and processed by an LLM, however this particular model is a private version and is never utilized for training. Additionally, you have the option to turn Qualitative Analysis off in your Admin settings.
Closed-ended data analysis (Quantitative Analysis) and Ask AI with Smart Insights uses OpenAI to determine interesting questions and charts, but respondent data is not sent or processed. Typeform only sends the questions and possible answer choices on the form to the model. All data processing to populate any chart is handled within Typeform.
Creating forms with AI, importing questions with AI, optimizing form questions with AI, and form suggestions from AI uses OpenAI to help with the creation of forms.
Where is the data sent? Is data sent to a 3rd party?
Some features send data to OpenAI and no data is stored with LLM providers.
For features that send data to Anthropic, we use a private copy of the models so no customer data is directly sent to Anthropic. Typeform controls the data and the only data that Anthropic receives is Typeform’s usage data.
Is the data used to train models?
No, none of our customers’ data is used to train any model regardless of the model powering the feature.
Is the data Typeform sends anonymous?
Yes, the data sent is anonymous. Model providers do not have access to responses containing personal information. For features that send data to model providers, only overall data usage is sent and does not have direct access to the data.
